Clydebank may be a great community but like any town of 45,000 people it has its share of crime. Headlines grab everyone’s attention and shocking incidents will certainly shock residents – but it’s important to remember they are fairly few and far between.
Readers ask us about lots of incidents they’ve seen or heard in their areas. The following took place in the past week.

Teenage male threatened shop workers with knife
Police are hunting for a teenager who threatened shop workers with a knife after stealing from a Linnvale store.
The suspect, described by one witness as having “a junky appearance”, entered the Kirkwood Avenue shop with a female around 5.25pm on Friday, July 13. Requesting cigarettes at the counter, he was asked to produce identification as staff suspected him to be under the age of 18.
The male then grabbed a tray of cakes and the pair ran from the store. Staff pursued them in the direction of Woodward Crescent, but backed off when the male produced a knife and charged towards them.
He then fled over a bridge into Whitecrook. Police want the male on suspicion of theft, assault, carrying an offensive weapon and a racially aggravated breach of the peace.
